2011 REGIONAL COMPETITION

"A" SMALL CHORUS

THIRD PLACE

 The weekend of April 8-10 found the members of Southern Harmony Chorus in Winston Salem, NC participating in the 2011 Regional Competition.  The fun started Friday evening cheering our own Iris and her quartet- Soundsation. They did a great job representing us!!  Saturday morning began bright and early with flat floor rehearsal.  We did some physical and vocal warm ups and our director led us through our package.  The excitement was in the air!!!  It was back to our rooms to put our competition makeup on and slip on our costumes.  We were led by our wonderful escort, Anne, to the photography room, the warm up room, and onto the competition stage.  We sang our hearts out and six minutes was up before we knew it!!!  Everyone of us wanted to go back and do it again because it was so much fun.  We then became audience members to cheer on the other choruses.  What a grand weekend we had for singing!!!!  It was finally time for the winners to be announced.  We were so thrilled to hear our name called at the "A" Small Chorus Third Place Winners.  Sunday morning it was back to reality, but that reality was just a bit nicer with our medals around our necks.  Come on out and join in the fun of singing with us and working towards another competition and fun singouts in the community.

Competition is a major and fun part of the barbershop world that helps keep us focused on raising the bar of performing excellence. We come together in a spirit of lighthearted contest, to see who's really got top form. We root for each other, cheer each other on, and once the medals have been handed out, we sing and party into the night!

Regional

Every year in March or April Southern Harmony Chorus makes the trip to compete in our regional contest. Dozens of choruses and quartets come together to sing and compete. There are a number of judging categories, and the groups bring complete and entertaining packages. This year, we will compete in Greensboro, NC.

International

Sometime in the fall the winners of all regional contests -- and a few "wildcards" -- gather together at International competition. The 2012 International Competition will be held in Denver.  You can watch the live website by signing up at the SAI International website.  This is the ultimate female barbershop competition -- not to be missed!
