Pati was born in an ambulance on the German autobahn, en route to the American Hospital in Munich. Her father was in the US Army stationed near the Austrian border, and he helped deliver her, or so the story goes. From that time until she graduated from high school in Ankara, Turkey, she had 13 addresses and experienced many adventures, a few of which are believable and can actually be shared in polite company. She spent 20+ years in the Washington, DC area, and eventually moved to the Harrisonburg, VA, area in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley. There she sang with two large community choruses and two smaller ladies ensembles. She met her husband Brian when he attended a 4th of July concert at which she sang a solo entitled “Some Day He’ll Come Along”. They have laughed many times at how that turned out to be rather prophetic. Pati and Brian moved to Charleston at the end of 2003 and she discovered the joys of barbershop singing with Southern Harmony Chorus in January 2005. She still feels it is the hardest type of singing she has ever done; thank goodness she also considers it the most fun, as well as a great outlet for the hidden performer in her that she didn’t know she had. She also takes ballroom dance lessons once a week, which is another of her soul-feeding activities. Pati and Brian live with their two lab-mix pups and a host of felines.
